Did you know that 300,000-500,000 people per year develop Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections? Indeed, many experts believe the true number of Lyme disease cases is much higher due to the difficulty in diagnosis, which is often referred to as diagnosis by exclusion.

Lyme disease is caused by a bacterium called Borrelia burgdorferi that is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected tick. Typical early-onset symptoms can include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, the manifestations of Lyme infection can affect any organ but typically materialize in the joints, the heart, and the nervous system. Because symptoms mimic many other diseases, Lyme disease is referred to as “The Great Imitator.”

In honor of Lyme Disease Awareness month, this webinar is featuring Lyme expert and integrative medicine physician Casey Kelley. Dr. Kelley will detail how to detect and treat Lyme disease and common co-infections using an integrative medicine approach.

What you will learn:

• Facts about Lyme transmission

• The signs and symptoms of Lyme disease

• Common co-infections and prevalence of misdiagnosis

• The accuracy of clinical tests for detecting Lyme

• Common treatments for Lyme and their effectiveness
